Plug and Play Point of Care Testing Profit Program

The most comprehensive course for implementing a point of care testing program in your independent pharmacy.

Plug and Play Point of Care Testing Profit Program is a 4-week course where you will learn how to run a successful point of care testing program without the overwhelm, confusion, and drawn-out process.

Before We Dive Into What This Program is All About, Let’s Talk About Who This is For…

You’re a persistent pharmacy owner tired of playing games with low-to-no (or even negative) reimbursements. You’re not going to be the pharmacy that closes because you are being squeezed out of the healthcare system. You know you have to transition your business even though you aren’t quite sure where to take it. But what you do know, is that you are ready to do whatever it takes to start actually making some damn money again.

Whether You’re….

  • A seasoned pharmacy owner veteran who has been at this game a very long time with more experience than many could even dream – dying to reach that 100th year in business and continue the legacy generations set up before you. You’re committed, willing, and passionate; and you realize that shifting is essential to the success of your business.
  • A newbie who is fresh out of the gate and ready to take on the world with your brand new pharmacy. You’re excited for the clinical services in pharmacy, provider status, and ready to offer rapid testing services ASAP because you already know this will help your business thrive.
  • A pharmacy owner who is a bit hesitant about all this stuff outside of dispensing but realizes that something needs to be done …like yesterday. You might be tired, overwhelmed, and disinterested in learning something new, but you are very much willing to take on something like testing services that models the things you already do and is simple to implement.

You’re in the right place and I’m going to tell you exactly how this course will help your pharmacy become a CLIA Laboratory, create your testing processes, and generate another stream of revenue to positively impact the success of your business.

By the End of This Program, You Will Have:

N

Become a certified CLIA Laboratory (instead of continuing to contemplate doing it for the next 6 months)

N

Learned the correct sample collection technique to confidently swab your patients each and every time

N

Expertly assessed and chosen the tests you are going to offer so that they are easily accessible, profitable, and helpful to the patient

N

Nailed down how much you’re going to charge for each testing service

N

Leveraged automation in your favor to make the testing process simple and efficient from start to finish (even if you are technologically challenged)

N

Crafted the appropriate questionnaires and result documents to make sure that your patients have all the information they need when they need it

Here’s why it pays to learn from someone who’s gone before you – I’ve already been down this rabbit hole and I’ve come back to you with the answers. In this module, we’re going to address all the details you need to know to be comfortable and confident in running a point of care testing program.

We’ll start by getting that CLIA application for certification in the mail (if you haven’t already) so that you can get through that obstacle that might be the thing keeping you from moving forward.

You’ll clearly understand who oversees CLIA Laboratories, understand the personnel requirements, and know exactly where to go when questions arise in the future.

Finally, you’ll learn the proper technique on how to collect multiple different types of samples and even be provided with the items needed in order to practice. If you’re concerned about PPE requirements, don’t be. We have you covered there, too!

Highlights:

  • Apply for a CLIA laboratory certification
  • Understand the nuances of testing – interpreting the statistics, reading the package inserts, and knowing the personnel requirements for the lab
  • Learn proper technique for collecting samples – nasopharyngeal, oropharyngeal, and more

Knowing you want to offer a new service is one thing. Figuring out the system you’ll use in your pharmacy to actually do it is a completely different beast.

First, we’ll walk through key considerations when deciding where you’ll be testing and all the other logistics that go along with it. No stone will be left unturned. From space to physical items to what tests to offer. It will all be discussed.

You’ll learn about how to navigate the world of testing from accessing to pricing and more. You’ll be supported with plenty of documents to help keep things organized and your brain from spinning.

By the end of this module, you’ll know exactly who is going to be doing the sample collection, reporting, and other necessary duties.

Highlights:

  • Set up your workspace so you are ready to go when that first test is purchased and able to support high volume days, too
  • Decide which tests to offer, where to get them, and other key considerations
  • Implement the workflow process that will work best for your particular pharmacy

Oh, automation and technology. You either love it or you hate it! Don’t even worry about that though. We have this module designed to make it EASY for you. I know. I know. Everyone says that. But seriously, let me tell you why.

I am a big fan of point and click which is why you will have the option to follow me step-by-step on how to set up your scheduling calendar complete with all the templates you need.

Highlights:

  • Navigate how to choose a scheduling platform to automate your testing calendar and allow patients to book on their own
  • Point and click guidance to create your scheduling calendar to start saving you time (because time is money)
  • Gain access to the templates that you’re going to need during the testing process so you can spend your time doing something else

In this module, you will pull everything together. Complete with videos on how to use some common tests, receiving a shipment, handling control testing, and everything that comes after.

We’ll discuss how to have certain phone conversations and deliver results, so that you can feel confident with your conversations.

Lastly, you’ll be provided with a document outlining frequently asked questions. This is all new to you, and we completely understand that. This document will help answer some of the questions that we have most often come across with our testing patients to keep you feeling confident like you should be feeling!

Highlights:

  • Pull it all together & finalize everything from receiving a shipment to delivering results
  • Receive templates for certain dialogs to keep conversations smooth and seamless
  • Obtain commonly asked questions about testing so you have an easy document to reference when a question arises that you are unsure about when you’re first starting out

You’ll be given access to one module per week so that you have plenty of time to dive into the lessons and execute that portion of the program before the start of the next module.

We do this to protect your time, attention, and focus while sparing you from the intense overwhelm that stops many pharmacy owners from actually implementing their point of care testing program.

Frequently Asked Questions

The majority of people seem to have been vaccinated for COVID, so why would I want to start offering this service now?

Offering rapid testing services is a great way to add another revenue stream to your pharmacy. It includes a multitude of options even outside of COVID testing. Once set up, you can utilize the processes taught in this course to introduce other tests like influenza, strep, and RSV to name a few.

I am a pharmacy owner and would like to delegate this to someone else in my pharmacy. Would another member of my pharmacy staff be able to complete this course?

Yes, absolutely! However, there are some areas where personal business information might be required when setting up accounts with distributers, and you might decide to do this section yourself. There are some other sections where workflow decisions will need to be made that you could have the attendee handle or take to you for approval.

Will I need to invest in any other training to legally run a CLIA Laboratory in my pharmacy?

No, you will not have to invest in other training. Being a pharmacist qualifies you to be the Lab Director of a CLIA Laboratory.

How much is the CLIA application?

It does not cost anything to apply. You pay the certification fee of $180 when the application is approved.

Will anyone be available and accessible to answer questions if I get stuck or want help trying to navigate the process with my pharmacy?

Yes! Dr. Kristin Tallent will be available once weekly for 4 weeks to answer whatever questions arise during the course.

You Should Give the Plug and Play Point of Care Testing Profit Program a Shot if You are Motivated by Any of the Following:

You want more control of your pharmacy and your life – now!

You might be sick of negative reimbursements or just ready to add another revenue stream. You dream about what an extra few hundred or thousand dollars per week could do for your business and your personal life. If so, this course is for you.

Just 6 months ago, I took a leap to offer rapid COVID testing services to my local community. I dreamed about the impact it could have on those in my community and my own personal life. And the response has been incredible!

Lucky for you, I’ve already done this and continue to do this in my business every day. I’ve navigated the testing waters and am bringing it all to you in this course with the hope that you will find more time, freedom, and peace through testing services.

It takes courage and grit (and a little bit of crazy) to jump out there and do something that most people aren’t doing yet. But you can do this very easily with my step-by-step course guiding you along the way! You are the community pharmacist that people trust “more than their doctor” – you know you’ve heard your patients tell you that! They want to come to you for the convenience that your pharmacy provides and the trust you’ve already created.

You’re motivated and ready to spend a few hours per week over 4 short weeks to implement something that can be life altering.

I personally cannot wait to guide you over these next 4 weeks…

Opening a CLIA Laboratory has literally transformed my life.

I’ve experienced firsthand what it feels like to transition from dispensing medications to implementing revenue generating clinical services as a pharmacist.

More than anything else, I want to share that with you today.

If you’re a pharmacy owner, you owe it to yourself and to your staff to at least take a leap to see what your pharmacy could look like providing much needed testing services to your community.

To experience the shift in pharmacy and be part of the innovative pharmacists forging ahead to pave the way for our profession and independent pharmacy industry.

If you choose to accept my invitation, I personally guarantee that these next 4 weeks will completely transform the way you look at your pharmacy.

I look forward to meeting you inside the Plug and Play Point of Care Testing Program.

In health and a whole lot of happiness,

Dr. Kristin Tallent, PharmD
